Need some extra money? Why not try teaching at a summer camp this year? Summer is an excellent time for short-term work and camps are a quick way to pick up some cash. They usually have a lot of hours packed into a short period of time and range from one week to two months so you don’t need to make a big commitment.

If you already live in a big city like Beijing or Shanghai, you will find a decent amount of camps just by looking in the local job section. However, remember that in a big city there are more expats and more competition. Outside the big cities, and in some of the more Western provinces, there are some camps that will actually pay for you to come from your town by train or airplane. Usually these kinds of camps provide you with room and board. You don't end up getting a lot of free time because you may end up teaching between 5-6 hours a day, but in general, summer camps pay very well. Teaching at a summer camp can get you anywhere from 3000RMB or more for one week up to 20,000RMB for one month. There is a lot of range though based on location, your experience, etc., so check around and don’t be afraid to ask for more money if you do have teaching experience.

One note about the camps though, they will not normally get you a visa, so if yours is about to run out, don't count on a one month summer job providing you with extra time in China. Also, beware of programs online that you have to pay for. You should never have to pay to work unless you plan on volunteering. Check some of these sites for camps and good luck this summer!
