One of the best things about living in China is the proximity to the rest of Asia. Southeast Asian countries are growing ever more popular with tourists, so whether you're passing through as part of a bigger trip, or need a break from China life, it's good to know what the visa rules are like for foreigners. Here's a quick guide to regulations for the most popular destinations.

1) Vietnam
Getting your tourist visa for Vietnam takes around four working days. For regular processing, the fee is 380 RMB, or 600 RMB for same-day express processing. Aside from the application forms, you'll need to take your valid passport (with at least six months until expiry) and one passport-sized photo.

You must provide valid tickets for onward or return journeys, and your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry.

8) Indonesia
Visitors to Indonesia from 62 countries can enter the country using a visa obtained on arrival (VOA). You can apply for this after you have landed at the major airports and seaports.
