If there is one thing China can do, it’s be impressive. The opening ceremony of the Olympics last year was enough to turn the world’s heads and force it to pay attention if it wasn’t already. China has spun itself forward with no looking back and even as the rest of the world is slumped in economic crisis, China just keeps building away and people are investing. But it’s not that they are building, it’s what they are building. The buildings are more interesting architecturally, and taller, than anyone could have guessed was possible. And the Hyatt Hotel chain paid attention. Seems the Hyatt has a thing for bars up in China’s tallest buildings. Fear not, bar going friends, we have done the homework for you. These are the highest bars in China and they are all owned by the Hyatt. Sure, China’s highest bars are probably not places you can go all the time, but maybe for a birthday or visiting relatives, showing clients or a date, these are the places with the best views of the city in China, and for that we deem them, the Mile High Bars China - China’s Highest Bars.

Cloud 9 - Shanghai
The first on our list of China’s Highest Bars is called Cloud 9, in one of the Hyatt Hotels in Shanghai; it’s located on the 88th floor of the third tallest building in China. The bar is in Shanghai’s Jin Mao Tower, built in 1999, though the bar itself is part of the Grand Hyatt Hotel. This is definitely not the cheapest of places, but your expensive drinks will buy you access to an amazing 360 degree view of Shanghai’s skyline, where you can literally look for miles in all directions and sip your martini, feeling posh. The building provides an up close view of Shanghai’s famous Pearl Tower, and the bar itself is chic and dark and will make you feel like someone important, even if you can only afford one drink. They usually have a minimum charge and expensive liquor, so be prepared to maybe take a credit card along if you plan on bringing a date here!

China Bar - Beijing
Welcome to Beijing’s highest bar. Wouldn’t you know it, it’s at the Hyatt Beijing branch in Guo Mao. Here on the top of the 249m high building, on the 65th floor, you can sip your brandy while overlooking Beijing’s ultra skyline-the CBD or Central Business District. Here you can gaze out at the CCTV Tower and the still (at the time of writing) unfortunately charred Mandarin Oriental Hotel. China Bar has amazing selections of wines, cognacs and other cocktails accompanied by live jazz while you enjoy a 360 degree look Beijing. You can marvel at Beijing from all directions for the lovely price of 50 RMB per beer or 75RMB per cocktail.

100 Century Avenue Bar - Shanghai
And here we are, the top of the list, the highest bar in China, and the world, so they claim, and surprise, it’s at the Hyatt’s 92nd floor in Shanghai at the Shanghai World Financial Center, which is 492 meters tall. Yep, those Hyatt people really do know how to impress. This bar is all about events; from masquerades to private parties and 80 RMB Lychee Kiss cocktails, this place will put you in the land of the posh, so maybe save this one for a special occasion because it’s not cheap, but it is one of those “once in a life time” places with a view to check out. With 3 floors, outstanding chefs and an amazing array of cocktails and drinks, this romantic bar with leather bound booths is one place that will not disappoint.
