A university in Wuhan has tried yet something new, or something old fashioned and backwards: a lady-training class to encourage virtuous and elegant traits in women. The class at Wuhan Embroidery College aims to encourage all those feminine traits that the ancient Chinese poems and classics talk about.

Chutian Jinbao newspaper compares it to the female version of military training, although instead they have classes in paper-cutting, embroidery, calligraphy, make-up, posture, classical literature, and etiquette.

There is a scoring system, and students will need at least 211 points to pass the class. The class has already received quite a bit of criticism, as the class supposedly just trains women to be mistresses.

Good idea was maybe also a course showing women not to dress up like an east-european street whore. What do you think?

i imagine a dozen or so middle-aged ayi's saw their days as a hot item wrinkle away, and realized that they have no relevance in chinese society - they wont become revered elderlies until they're two decades older. so with a bit of guanxi they set this up. since china is still full of immature virgin hunters, it might actually be of some use to women who wish to appear virginal. i have my misgivings about the societal norms it proliferates, but i can recognize an original idea when i hear one. let them, if it makes them happy. it's no more harmful than hymen reconstruction surgery, or virginity rights violation lawsuits.
