Transgender Prisoner Confuses Police, Put into solitary confinement
May 23, 2014 By eChinacities.com

When Changsha police arrested a transgender pole dancer they were faced with a dilemma. Where to detain the prisoner? In the end they settled for putting her in a cell by herself and appointed female psychological and medical staff, affording her similar treatment to other female prisoners.

The suspect, Guiying, is over 30 years old and fell in love with pole dancing when she was still a man. It was while pursuing this passion that she decided she wanted to transition into a woman, and in 2010 she got sex change surgery.

However, because she could only afford a cheap operation there were a lot of post surgical complications and problems that required medical attention. Having already spent all her money, she turned to stealing to fund her treatment.
