With China’s economy developing at such a fast rate, it’s little wonder that many millionaires have been produced in the process. And what could be a more natural follow on from this phenomenon than a new desire to seek out China’s best cities for buying luxury items?

1) Shanghai 上海
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Shanghai takes the top spot – no other city can keep up with amount of international designer brands here. It’s not only luxury department stores that are plentiful in Shanghai, but whole designer brand districts too. The designer area by the Bund is actually among the top designer areas in the world.

2) Beijing 北京
Beijing’s luxury goods rank at number two. Beijing is constantly opening new top luxury stores, but even the capital loses out when compared to Shanghai. Lots of luxury brands in Shanghai can’t be bought in Beijing. However, this doesn’t affect Beijing’s position as one of the most glamorous cities.

3) Hangzhou 杭州
Hangzhou has surpassed Guangzhou, and is now worthy of being called the third best city for luxury items. Many luxury items can only be found in these three cities – Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou; from clothing, leather products, furniture to make-up. There are even some luxury items that can only be found in Hangzhou. The main area for luxury goods is Hubin International Designer Street, and is also the most fashion forward in the country. As one of the luxury goods areas in Hangzhou, Hubin International Boutique Compound (湖滨国际名品街) is in the same ranks as Milan’s Viamontenapoleone first class commercial district and it is the only area whose business operation mode is of top level in China.
