Suzhou Took 11 Years to Build a Skyscraper That Looks Like a Pair of Pants
Apr 13, 2015 By eChinacities.com

On March 31, Suzhou's “Gate to the East,” 74 story skyscraper (that closely resembles a giant pair of pants) was finally completed after 11 years of construction. The outside of the building may be complete, but the inside will take almost another year to be fully decorated. The building is expected to be fully functional by the year's end, but as we can see, this construction crew really likes to take it's time, so I'll believe it when I see it.

The building was started in 2004. Wow! In 2004, Hu Jintao took office and Stephon Marbury was playing for the New York Knicks. How times have changed. The original construction budget was 4.5 billion Yuan, but was stretched to 9 billion Yuan. The building became somewhat of a joke in the media when everyone started calling it “The Pants Building” and half-joked that it would never actually be completed.

The original plan was to build the pants and shirt but hey ran out of money. I heard though they are still planning on building phase 2 (the 'shirt') by 2020, in time for the asia games.

'The original construction budget was 4.5 billion Yuan, but was stretched to 9 billion Yuan.' Yeah, you think you Beijingers & Shanghainese are the only ones wanting to drive Mercedes, keep a dozen of mistresses before boarding that flight to Dominica and buying new mistresses there? We Suzhou people grew up under the same 'education system' too, you know? Still don't know the real reason that thing is built like a door, believing it symbolizes Gateway of the East? On propaganda brochures and videos to dumb laowais, sure. For us, opposite direction, genius!!! Hmmm....counting 4.5 billion on the Lears to Dominica, beaches, white chicks....that, is the real China Dream!!! Shhh....don't let those dumb laowais know, not before we suck'em dry!

Well, when zombies without individual IDs are concerned, sterotypes can be astoundingly accurate & therefore valid. This is one blindspot many westerners have. Notice communism in both countries produces two identical products? Thieves and hookers en masse.(Your thoughts on the reasons?) Scroll down a bit, the photo where Putin and Alina shook hands in public. The two aside, look carefully at others' eyes, you learn a LOT about politics and human nature. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2879149/From-Russia-love-Putin-reveals-relationship-year-divorce-refuses-confirm-former-Olympic-gymnast-lucky-lady.html In return, chinese millionares can send Lyudmila fake TCM menopause medicine; shows how fair & shrewd they are....
