A high-profile and expensive matchmaking scheme consisting of wealthy bachelors and handpicked beautiful ladies was organized by a yacht club in Shenzhen. Successful bachelors that signed up for the expensive and high-profile match up service on November 8th at a social club in Shenzhen had to pay an entry fee of 36,800 RMB; the participating ladies were all prized beauties hand-picked by event organizers.

After a series of activities and dating schemes that had the bachelors meet their dates on yachts for fishing, cookout and conversation, event organizers with the Shenzhen Longcheer Yacht Club announced that they had successfully matched up ten couples for potential marriage.

When ifeng.com (a popular Chinese website) first reported on the high-profile match up event with wealthy bachelors, the news spread quickly across several websites and forums. The topic became an instant hit with Chinese netizens across the country, as people began scrutinizing what they thought was the “real deal” behind the wealthy bachelors looking for a hook-up. Many expressed opinions that they thought real successful bachelors wouldn't need to play match-up, as they should have no problem attracting ladies. One such netizen wrote: “Real wealthy bachelors would be in need of lady company? These bachelors are most definitely con artists in disguise or perhaps those seriously impaired in some way. Otherwise, why would they be single, considering their age and success?”

According to those in the know, the 16 wealthy bachelors that participated in the high-profile match up event are all self-employed business owners or executives of foreign companies from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Dongguan. “Of the 16 bachelors, over half are divorcees with previous experience of unsuccessful marriages.” The 18 beautiful ladies are from different cities in Guangdong province, many of them are teachers, assistants to executives, and college students.
