Qingshan Lake in Jiangxi Mysteriously Turns Bright Green

Qingshan lake in Jiangxi province, with a total area of over 400 hectares, is one of the largest bodies of water in Nanchang city, but has mysteriously turned bright green.

The colour can be attributed to a green algae invasion, killing fish in the lake and creating a generally hostile environment.

Although a lake turning green is probably less disconcerting than a river suddenly turning red in Wenzhou not too long ago, the algae can still be poisonous and harmful to people or animals living near or in the lake.
