During the morning of June 28, a man in Shanghai’s Qingpu District decided to smash a window of someone’s car – though it wasn’t his intention to go for a joyride. As it was raining heavily that day, the culprit was simply looking for somewhere to shelter from the rain, and got a bit of sleep while he was at it.
The next day, when the owner of the car arrived on the scene, he was shocked to discover a random guy sleeping in his vehicle. Due to damage of private property, the man was eventually arrested.
It was discovered that the man, surnamed Sun, had arrived in Shanghai around a month ago to find work. However after searching in vain in the Songjiang, Jiading and Qingpu districts, he was unable to find work and had nowhere to stay, and saw the car parked on the side of the road as a perfect respite from the heavy rain that day.
