Man Bites Ostrich to Death in Bizarre Suicide Attempt

On January 19, a 27-year-old man surnamed Li, forcibly broke into an ostrich cage at a zoo in Shaoguan, Guangdong, and then bite the creature to death. As police were called, Li began to slash at his wrists in front of onlookers, including many children. After they arrived, Li simulated firing a gun at the policemen, who eventually overpowered him and took him to a nearby hospital. A suicide note was later discovered on Li, telling his parents to enjoy their lives and to not worry about him anymore. While being questioned, Li claimed to have no memory of the incident. Employed as a security guard, Li has been described as a strangely quiet and introverted person.
