How Different Coloured Foods Can Help You Lose Weight

According to a recent article on sina.com.cn, different coloured foods have surprisingly different effects on your body's health. Apparently, it's best to eat less red, orange and bright yellow foods; while white, green and black foods should be eaten more of because of their weight loss effects. Below is a list of foods that are not only nutritious and healthy, but are supposedly great for shedding a few pounds – who would have thought!


Green Foods

"Green foods" refers to all vegetables that are green, such as soft bamboo shoots, spinach, avocado, cabbage, and even olive oil. These foods are quite neutral in colour and usually don't contain high levels of fats. On the contrary, these foods are rich in nutrients and therefore great for a healthy, diet.

Many people in the process of losing weight, can easily feel the effects on their mood. Green foods can actually help stabilize your mood and reduce stress and anxiety, while at the same time giving your body the healthy kick it needs to stay strong and balanced.


White Foods

White foods are known to suppress cravings. They include: radishes, tofu, milk, rice, noodles and yoghurt, to name but a few. Adding white foods to your diet can help regulate your vision and maintain a stable mood. These foods have especially great benefits for people suffering from high blood pressure and heart disease.


Black Foods

Black foods such as black sesame, black tree fungus, kelp, snakehead fish, black chickens etc. contain all the necessary nutrients and contain hardly any components that are bad for you. Black foods are ideal nutrient supplements for people on a diet. They also don't pose any extra burdens on people in poor health. People suffering from arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease and cerebral apoplexy should actually eat more black foods.


Red Food

4)  Red and orange foods

These are the most simulating foods, and encourage people to subconsciously want to eat more. Therefore, these foods can be quite dangerous for those hoping to lose weight by eating less. The best time to eat red and orange foods is for breakfast in the morning, to give yourself a boost of energy and kick start the day. However, one should reduce intake of these foods during lunch hours and in evenings.

5) Different coloured meats

As a rule of thumb, people wishing to lose a bit of weight should also be careful about the types of meat they eat. There are three colour categories for meat: red, white and colourless. These so-called "colourless" meats refers to the meat of shells, crab meat, oysters etc. These meats contain lower fats than other meats, and only half the fat of eggs and cheese. Together with white meats (chicken and other poultry), colourless meat contains significantly less cholesterol than red meats (pork, beef, mutton).

Remember, when losing weight it is vital to maintain a healthy, balanced diet. Those interested in trying the food colour diet, should mix and match the different food colours carefully, keeping in mind that going from one extreme to another is never a wise idea. Start introducing more green, white and black foods gradually, while at the same time reducing the amount of red and orange foods one day at a time. reduce your coffee intake and drink instead green tea, at least twice a day and you will lose weight slowly but surely and you will feel more energetic. Green tea is very good for the metabolism, which normally down with age, so the green tea reactivate the metabolism in turn burns fat...... Try it for a period of 2 to 3 months and be consistent and you will see the results.

Of course eating less fat food and exercising are minimum requirements for a healthier life.
