Just when you though school officials in China couldn’t come off any seedier, a story like this appears.

A middle school in Shijiazhuang’s Zhengding County made headlines recently after students protested against the school’s new summer uniform—specifically the trousers, which are noticeably see-through.

School officials claimed that the trousers, which are made up of a lightweight, flimsy material, were designed to “make the students cooler in the summer.” Male and female students alike have expressed their embarrassment over wearing the new uniform.
