Elon Musk Tweets: No Tesla Factory in China…For Now
Oct 28, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on Twitter over the weekend that all of the company’s vehicle production will remain in the United States for the time being, despite rumors of a China plant.

Last week at a forum at Tsinghua University, Musk was quoted saying that Tesla would produce electric cars in China within the next two years.

Musk wrote on Twitter that a factory in China would only come after Tesla launches the Model 3. The Tesla Model 3 is the company’s proposed mass-market electric car, and will not be launched for at least two years. Musk said that when the Model 3 is launched a factory in China would be a possibility, as would one in Europe.

Tesla recently expanded its assembly plant in the Netherlands. The plant in the Netherlands serves as the company’s final assembly factory and distribution point for European sales.

Musk posts frequently on Twitter- mostly about Tesla. Last month, Musk tweeted that the Model 3 Tesla electric car will sell for about $35,000 and bookings can be made starting March next year.
