At 14:25 on June 4, a Weibo user uploaded a picture of an ad that was stated it was selling babies. The user wrote that the ad was found near Zhengzhou’s Jingsan Lu. The netizen has stated that he has been working as a volunteer against human trafficking for seven years, and claims to have saved 60 children.

A reporter later phoned the number on the advert, and got through to a woman who said, “Do you want a boy or a girl? Boys are 36,000 RMB, and girls are 24,000 RMB. Most of the babies are between one and five months old.” The woman then explained that all of the babies are bastards, and are pretty healthy. When the reporter asked when he could buy one, the woman replied, “There aren’t any babies for sale right now. If you’re willing to wait however, we’ll give you a call in a few days.”

The reporter (who was calling from Shanghai) saw that the number he called belonged to Handan in Hebei province. He then told his story to the police, who stated that they couldn’t do anything because they had no proof the ad was real. The police then said that they believed these “baby sellers” probably didn’t actually have any babies, and were trying to cheat people.
