Mar 12, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Air purifier sales figures have shot up following the release of “Under the Dome”.

Chai Jing’s extraordinary documentary that shoved air pollution issues into the limelight and got the whole country debating, has now been blocked by censors; however, its impact is ongoing.

One Taobao store, which saw sales of air purifying units double immediately after the documentary was aired, now reports that nearly 80 units a day are being sold, compared to the 10 units a day typically seen prior to the documentary’s release.

She got them a mirror, these fools now know how strong and powerful their country is. Another surprise for them will come when multinationals finish shifting their operations elsewhere.

Agree with all. Smart ones exit early enough to land good career opportunities around Asia while they are still there, they don't wait for that iceburg to show up inside the Titanic.

This is insane... Can you believe that most Chinese thought it was simply fog instead of smog? Do people realize that the increased usage of air purifiers will only increase the use of resources (coal, power, manufacturing) and INCREASE the pollution? If each person in China just planted a few trees, rode a bicycle instead of taking their massive SUVs (when it isn't necessary) and pushed for their local officals to have factories using better filtering... that would have a massive impact...

So Chinese need a documentary to tell them how bad the quality of the air is. Can't they just look out the window? And I think it's disgraceful that this documentary has been censored - people have a right to know this information. Shame on the Chinese government.
