On February 11 the Canadian government decided to withdraw a policy that allowed big investors into the country to become eligible for citizenship. This policy shift left around 46,000 Chinese citizens with outstanding applications. This moved caused widespread anger and disappointment on the side of the Chinese and has led to 10 Chinese nationals to hold a meeting and subsequent press conference in Beijing to discuss taking legal action against the North American nation.
This group of dissatisfied investors are looking into legal action concerning Canada’s business credibility and have slammed the nations ‘one size fits all’ policy of cancellation.
In their defense, Canada provide some rather damning reasons why they have cancelled the policy. They assert that they have experienced too many concerns over applicants, especially after a report published in 2011 showed that 80% of Chinese applicants falsify information on their applications.

Canada as a sovereign country has the right to have their own laws and rules concerning immigration. China certainly does as well. I just finished doing a six month saga trying to get and receive all the extra paper work the new government laws required for a Z Visa. China, Canada, and many other countries are all getting tougher to get in as an immigrant. Welcome to the world community!

especially after a report published in 2011 showed that 80% of Chinese applicants falsify information on their applications. Typical..... trying to cheat your way out regardless if you are rich or poor... I am suprised it is actually "only" 80%.

I thought Chinese people were against interfering in other countries' internal issues. Canadian law is Canadian law.

Canadians (including myself) are usually quite polite and mild mannered when dealing with conflicts and generally laid back. But to these "10" uppity pricks and the other... "Screw you, screw your money... and stop cheating and lying... maybe the rest of the world will actually give you some respect on a personal and not just economical level."

Citizenship based on investment isn't something I could ever become eligible for in my lifetime, so I feel no need to show solidarity to these people, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual. Disgruntled rich folk who want to run away to another country with their wealth. I'm sure they'll garner lots of open support in nationalist China with their little 'meeting'. This made my day, thanks!

I hope Canada chains up their liberals, I will never understand why people think it's ok to give citizenship out so easily. If they get a bleeding heart judge, Canada is screwed. I have an idea, how about those 46,000 rich coots band together to fix China.

didn't you know that China has jurisdiction over every nation? However, not vice-versa, because any other nation involved in anything that Chinese dislike or disagree on are interfering in Chinese sovereign matters.
