Yunmeng Xianjing (云梦仙境) Natural Scenic Spot is located on Mount Yunmeng, on the Baihe Gully (白河峡谷) and covers an area of some 16 square kilometers. With sheer cliffs, razor peaks and tight, twisting bends and gullies and roaring white rapids, visitors to Yunmeng come away feeling like they had a real brush with nature.

From the top of the peaks the views truly take your breath away. Pile upon pile of rocky boulders, inky deep lakes and silver torrents are enough to make even the most hardened townie relax for the day.

In the summer, visitors are treated to scenery that rivals even southern spots like Zhangjiajie for splendor, and in the autumn, bathing in the golden sunlight tourists can soak in the red foliage unfolding magically before them.

The main attraction for most visitors to Yunmeng has to be the snake of a river that the park wears like a belt with pride. With four massive bends and several smaller ones, the beautiful rapids never fail to captivate and enthrall.

The scenic area can be done in a day, but most people find that they need a full weekend. Situated in the far north of Beijing Municipality it will take the best part of the first morning before you arrive. Then once you’ve found your accommodation, had lunch and gone to the tourist information centre (Jingqu Zhongxin Jiedaichu 景区中心接待处) to collect your entrance tickets for the park, a large chunk of the day will be gone. For the rest of the evening, just enjoy the scenery and wait for the fun to start the next day.

Day 2- Head back to the info center where a free bus is ready to take you the 20 kilometers to the start of the white water rapid course. The whole thing takes three hours and counts as one of the best natural courses in northern China. On the way you will pass through natural landscapes of unspeakable beauty and finally arrive at the park campsite, where visitors can enjoy a BBQ, swimming pool and beach volleyball.
