Wuhan music fans take note! Wuhan’s top live music joint Vox Livehouse, will host not one, but five foreign rock bands this March and April. Spanning the expanse of the globe, from the USA to Europe to Australia, these bands cover a wide range of musical styles and genres so there’s surely something for every taste. If you’re suffering from a musical drought, this is your chance to hydrate!

1) EF (Sweden)View In Map

EF are a Swedish post-rock band, founded in Gothenburg in 2003. With 10 European tours, four self recorded demos and two full length albums under their belt, these rock n’ roll busy-bodies are only going one way: up!

3) Pelle Carlberg (Sweden)View In Map

“Wuhaners” can look forward to a night of “sparkling folk pop” on March 16th, when Swedish singer/songwriter Pelle Carlberg stops in town. Influenced by the likes of Cat Stevens, Simon and Garfunkel, Depeche Mode and The Cure, Carlberg’s music has been described as “pensive”, “melodic” and “gentle.”

4) Dustin O’Halloran (USA)View In Map

American pianist Dustin O’Halloran, has been successfully juggling a solo career as a pianist and his ongoing project as a keyboardist with his mate Sara of the band Devics. Besides releasing a number of critically acclaimed albums, Dustin has compiled film scores for Sophia Coppola’s film Marie Antionette and William Olsen’s An American Affair, among others. Critics have described his music as “seductive” and “pure emotion” with “clear melodies and no unnecessary meandering.” This one’s not to be missed!

5) Ataraxia (Italy)View In Map

Don’t be fooled by their name (Ataraxia is a Greek word meaning tranquility and peace of mind); this Italian dark wave/metal band is anything but silent! Hailed as one of the pioneers of dark wave in Italy, Ataraxia have been playing to packed audiences since 1985. Catch them at Vox on April 22nd, when they descend upon Wuhan as part of their 2011 China tour.
