In a city where the international food culture is still quite young, Shenzhen has a number of well-known and well-populated Turkish restaurants. Many of the Turkish restaurants in the city are centered near Huaqiangbei in Futian, where many from Turkey and the Middle East come to do business. Turkish offerings in Shenzhen include kebabs, hummus plates, cucumber salad, yogurt dips, Turkish coffee, and more. Sound good? Then check out one of those solid options for a Turkish meal in Shenzhen:
1) Istanbul RestaurantView In Map
The well-known Istanbul Restaurant offers array of Turkish offerings including pide (Turkish style pizza), kebabs, coban salatasi (a salad with chopped tomatoes and cucumbers), hummus, and hookah. The Luohu joint is actually best known however, for its desserts and has some of the best ice cream and fresh fruit juice in the city, as well as Turkish offerings like baklava. It's a great choice for those who need a Turkish food fix, or follow a halal diet in Shenzhen.

2) Mevlana Turkish RestaurantView In Map
A hidden gem in the Huaqiangbei area, Mevlana serves delicious Turkish food. One of the best dishes in the joint is probably the tavuk kebap, chunks of chicken and bread in a tangy yogurt sauce. The bread served is always fresh. Try a basket of pide flat bread with hummus or a pide pizza. The desserts and coffee are popular as well- from baklava to Turkish coffee to elaborate ice cream dishes.

3) Anatolia Turkish RestaurantView In Map
The service and food varies a bit at Anatolia- some have a great experience and love the food and others not do much. I find the food, especially the kebabs, to be quite tasty and, it is possibly the best place in Shenzhen to smoke hookah because of its separate hookah bar. Anatolia offers Turkish favorites including doner and prices are a bit cheaper than the other two Turkish restaurants in town. There is also great outside seating for diners.

4) Mama'sView In Map
Once upon a time Mama's was known as Mama's Gelato, but it upgraded a few years ago to become a full restaurant serving pizza and kebabs in Sea World. Mama's is on the list because of its amazing Mediterranean style kebabs. The restaurant also offers any kind of pizza you could want, pastas, burgers, and of course, gelato. Mama's is non-halal, therefore you can get a beer from the bar to go with your kebab. It's Sea World setting makes it one of the coolest spots to grab a bite or a beer and it's open 24 hours! Mama's also delivers in the area and delivery is free for those close by.

There you need to add a new one known as Baron Restaurant at the Cocopark in the hearth of Shenzhen Night Life. They have a new concept of combined Cafe & Bar Restaurant. Plus amazing ice cream!

I've been to all of these restaurants and quite frankly they're all rubbish, especially Mama's.The Istanbul restaurant is the only one I'd even consider going to. It's the usual tale of overpriced food, a chronic lack of döner and typical Turkish restaurant service which is bad. Got to go to the Xiaobei area of Guangzhou for good Middle-Eastern food I'm afraid.

If you're in SZ it is about as convenient and a bit more fun to go over to HK than GZ. LMNOP!
