iPhone SE Release: Over 3.4 Million Units Reserved in China
Mar 29, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Although Apple has not officially released specific sales numbers, Chinese retailers estimate that over 3.4 million iPhone SEs have been reserved within China.

CNBC reported that gold iPhone SEs were reserved at the highest rate. The new rose gold model is the second most popular.

The unprecedentedly low price of the iPhone SE has spurred rumors that it was designed to do well in emerging markets like China, Brazil, Russia, and India.

However, if the China sales figures are accurate, it means the demand for the iPhone SE is lower than expected in the Middle Kingdom. Analysts predicted last year that the iPhone SE would sell 10-15 million units in China.

iPhone SE reservations are now available in 13 countries in regions. In the coming weeks, Apple will open reservations to 47 countries.

The iPhone SE’s hardware is similar to that of the iPhone 6s. The phone is equipped with an Apple A9 processor, a 12 megapixel camera, a built in NFC chip, and support for Apple Pay mobile payment. The phone starts at $399 in the US (3288 Yuan in China, or about $500) and comes in black, silver, gold, and rose gold.
