To no-one’s surprise another story of faking things in China comes to light. A complex on Qingdao’s Yichang Lu has got netizens fired up for having painted on a number of the “windows” on the outside wall, and pretty obviously at that. “Yichang beautiful scenery,” as the complex is called is promoted as affordable housing, and this may be why. Not only have netizens ridiculed this ‘style’ but they have also called into question whether the contractor did this to cut corners.

When the contractors and construction workers were asked why the windows were drawn on the construction workers said that these painted windows are just decoration for the public and has no impact on the residents.

Qingdao’s city planning bureau responded by saying that these ‘decorative’ windows don’t break any rules and that the building conform to planning regulations. However, after a siege by netizens they changed their statement to, “Although construction was in accordance with the standard regulations, and the painted windows don't affect use or function, they do cause social misunderstanding and adverse reactions and therefore should be changed.”

So netizens have once again made their voices heard, and they’ve done so loud enough to force action. While the fake windows are deserving of ridicule, at the end of the day it is all a bit trivial though.
