According the Wuxi Family Planning Bureau Weibo account, on February 7 Zhang Yimou paid the 7.48 Million RMB fine for breaking China’s strict family planning laws.

The fine was imposed on January 9 and the total amount was calculated based on the couple’s total income the year the children were born (2000, 2003, and 2005). Despite netizens questioning the calculation, authorities have made clear that Zhang Yimou had a month to pay the full amount, and once he had, the issue would be settled.
