There are two kinds of buses in Xining: Buses servicing downtown districts are larger, costing 1 RMB or 0.7 RMB with an IC card. Smaller mini-buses connect the city center with suburbs and the new zone of the Southern District. These trips cost 0.5 RMB for traveling up to six stops and 1 RMB for traveling any further. Visitors are warned to get the exact change for their fare ready before boarding the bus.
Buses operate between 6:00 to 20:30 with the most popular lines running until to 22:30.
