The Xike-South Tong’an BRT section will begin construction on Mach 28. It belongs to the Phase II project of Xiamen Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), according to the operator of Xiamen BRT.

The Xike-South Tong’an section, which is 11.9 kilometers long, is the extension of the BRT Line Two. It starts from the Xike BRT station, runs along the Hai’xiang Avenue and Tong’ji Road and ends at the Tong’an Interchange Station. It has seven elevated stations and one interchange station.

When it is completed, the BRT Line Two will connect the No.1 Port, Xiamen Railway Station, Tong’an Industrial District, and Tong’an downtown areas in one line. It will be more convenient for the general public inside and outside the island of Xiamen as well as migrant workers in the industrial district. It plays an important role in promoting rural urbanization and improving the investment environment of Xiamen.

The section is scheduled to be put into use by the end of this year.

With an investment of over 1.5 billion RMB, the Phase II project of Xiamen BRT has a total length of 76.5 km including 4 bus lines and 3 interchange stations.

The 4 bus lines are:

1). The extension of BRT Line One (HuaQiao University to Xiamen New Railway Station), the total length is 8.4 km.

2). The Tong’an Line (Xike to South Tong’an), the total length is 11.9 km.

3). The Huandao Avenue Line (He’ping Port to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport), the total length is 25.6 km.

4). The Cheng’gong Avenue Line (Xiamen Port to Guan’kou Town), the total length is 30.6 km.
