Xi'an Transport -Subway

At the time of writing, Line 2 is Xi’an’s only operating subway line. It runs 20.5km from the North Railway Station to the Expo Center with 17 stops in between (North Railway Station, Beiyuan, Sports Park, Administrative Center, Fengcheng Fifth Road, Xi’an Library, Daminggong West, Longshouyuan, Anyuanmen, North Street, Bell Tower, Yongningmen, Nanshaomen, Tiyuchang, Xiaozhai, Weiyi Road, Expo Center).  It operates between 6:30 and 21:30 at 10 min intervals between trains. Rides within six stops cost 2 RMB and 3 RMB for trips within 7-11 stops. The entire line will cost no more than 5 RMB. However, travelers who use Chang’antong travel cards can enjoy 30% discounts on subway fares, an offer that is valid until Dec 31, 2014. The south section of line 2 from the Expo Center to Weiqu South is under construction and will re-open on Dec 28th, 2012.

The first phase of line 1 (Houweizhai - Textile City) began construction in October 2008 and is planned to open in 2013.  The first phase of line 3 from Yuhuazhai in the western suburbs to the International Port Administrative Area in the eastern suburbs began construction in May, 2011 and will undergo trial operation at the end of 2015.
