Xi'an, 16 Global Cities Form the World Historical Cities Alliance

June 12th is a day to celebrate culture and heritage in China. On that day in Suzhou, Xi'an, Venice, Barcelona, and 14 other global cities rich in history and culture pledged to form a World Historical Cities Alliance, with aims to protect the cultural heritage of their cities. The cities have jointly issued a pledge called “Suzhou Outlook”.

The 17 cities include the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi' an, Luoyang, Yangzhou, Suzhou and the Macao Special Administrative Region. International cities include Bologna and Venice, Barcelona, Mexico City, Nairobi, Cairo, Liverpool, Konstanz, and Pondicherry.
