Xiamen’s busy CBD areas along Hubinbei Road and Binlang Road have a new bridge. As of January 1st 2009, a new bridge called Huming Bridge, crossing Yuandang Lake, is open to traffic.
Better known as bar street in Xiamen, Binlang Road is the homes to many Xiamen pubs and bars. Hubinbei Lu or Hubinbei Road is where many Xiamen expats live and work and connecting the two popular areas has been greatly convenient for them..
The bridge starts from the crossing of Hubin Bei Road and Yuxiu Dong Road, ends at the crossing of Binlang Road and Huming Road. Its entire length is 160 meters, 130 meters of which across the Yuandang Lake, and 15 meters wide.
The bridge has 4 lanes and they flow both ways, the bridge’s maximum speed limit is 30kms/hour. There are also sidewalks of 2.5 meters wide set for pedestrians and bicycles on both sides.
With the opening of Huming Bridge, time taken in driving from Huming Road to Hubin Bei Road can be reduced by about 10-15 minutes.
