Wutong Port is Xiamen second passenger's port which serves ferries to Kinmen, apart from its main at Xiamen International Ferry Terminal. Wutong Port which has come into operation recently is located at Huandao Road, not far from Xiamen International Airport.
Xiamen will start an extension project of Xiamen Wutong Port at the end of February. The total area of extension is from the current 6,000 square metres to 16,000 square metres. After completion, the annual passengers’ capacity will be increased to between 700,000 and a million from the current 300,000.
In the project, a new waiting hall of 1000 square metres will be built, and it will be a place for recreation too. It's expected to be finished this July. And in second half of this year, the project of building another new storey, about 8000 square metres will take place. The whole project is expected to be finished by June 2010. Xiamen Wutong Port is planning to add more ferries later this year, and night ferry is also likely to be open to the passengers by this April or May.
