Mar 15, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Xiamen has plans to build a model representation of Taiwan on Eyu (Alligator) Island, to better introduce the geography, history, culture and the economy makeup of the neighboring region to visitors. The project is expected to mobilize over tens of billions RMB in investments and attract lucrative revenue in tourism for the city. According to reports, officials have plans to build a true miniature model representation of Taiwan (20,000:1) based in and around Eyu Island – with a total area of 1.79 million square meters. The Eyu Island is also known as Bai Island and is located in Tong'an Bay of Xiamen; the island is entirely uninhabited and measures barely 0.8 square kilometers.
