Xiamen Travel Tips

Summer is not the ideal time to visit Xiamen: humidity is high and temperatures can reach 32 or 33C (91-92F). In addition, this is the typhoon season, which means the city is periodically drenched by storm rains.

During the large Chinese national holidays, the city will be extremely busy, which will either discourage or encourage visitors, depending on their frame of mind.

Whilst smoking is generally well accepted all over China, in Xiamen, it has actually been banned: smoking in public is completely prohibited and anyone ignoring the ban will be fined.
