Xiamen Transport - Bus

Over 50 bus lines cover Xiamen: visitors will find that most journeys across the city are unlikely to take longer than half an hour. Bus fares start at 1 RMB for the cheap non-air conditioned bus, or 2 RMB for an air-conditioned bus. The service opens around 6am, closing by 11pm every day.

Minibuses
Minibuses zoom around the city during Chinese business hours, but are notoriously packed. Fares start at 1 RMB, increasing with the number of stops.

Sight Seeing Bus
Sightseeing buses leave Ferry Dock Square for the main attractions in Xiamen at intervals of 40 minutes.

Fare: 20 RMB, Weekends 30 RMB. 8:00-19:00, interval 40 min. The night tour is only in the summer, so please call 0592 227 5000 for information.

High Speed Public BRT Line
The Xiamen High Speed BRT already has three lines in service: Line 1 goes from the first stop to the Xiamen North Railway Station, Line two goes from the first stop to Tong’an Hub and the third line goes from the first stop to Qianbu.  Most pick up lines are within 3 km from the BRT extension line (these lines begin with L). Intervals between trains are very short, almost every 2-3 min, at high traffic times, every 1-2 min.  You can buy your ticket at the ticket office or at one of the many ticket machines nearby.

Private Bus
In Xiamen, in addition to the city’s public transportation system, there are six privately owned bus companies with over 30 lines that travel within Jimei and Daonei, respectively.  All buses beginning with the number 5 do not have a ticket attendant or air conditioning.
