Xiamen New Railway Station, which is under construction, is located in Houxi Town, Jimei District, covering an area of 6 square kilometers. It will be built to an integrative communication hub for the exchange of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), urban rail transit, long-distance buses, provincial railways and private vehicles.
Apart from the one billion yuan investment last year, another 3 billion yuan will be injected into the project this year. The station will be under trial operation after the main works finished at the end of this year. Upon completion, Fuzhou-Xiamen Railway, Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway and Longyan-Xiamen Railway will converge at Xiamen New Railway Station, which makes it the biggest communication hub in the southeast coastal area.
