Wuhan Attractions

The city of Wuhan is actually comprised of three districts and towns that were merged during the 1950s. The immense city is linked by an impressive bridge over the mighty Yangtze River. Hankou is the largest of the districts, and the business center of the city. It has a number of traditional streets including the well-known shopping hotspot of Zhanghan Lu. Directly across the river is the relatively small district of Hanyang. It is home the Qingchuan Pavilion, and the Guiyuan Temple.

The city is dotted with a number of other attractions like Yellow Crane Tower, which rests on the banks of the Yangtze. Visitors should also check out the first road and rail bridge built over that wide river, the Yangtze River Bridge. Steeped as it is in fascinating folklore, Turtle Hill is the place to go for panoramic views of the Yangtze River.

Meanwhile, the district of Wuchang has some shops, bars and cafes, as well as the East Lake Scenic Area and the Wuhan University. Springtime visitors should check out the latter for its beautiful Cherry Blossom Gardens.

Historical attractions in Wuhan include Mulan Lake and Guqin Tai Terrace. And Wuhan MuseumHubei Provincial Museum and the KMT National Government Museum are the places to go to examine the fascinating artifacts that the local people have left behind them since the area was first settled some 3,000 years ago.
