On the evening of December 10th, the dark Chengdu Eastern Music Park was illumined by 40 candles that were casted in abandoned chimneys. The lit candles, claiming to be the tallest in the world (100 m!), marked the beginning of the Chengdu Dongqu New Year’s Music Carnival. According to the organizer, these candles will stay lit until December 31st. Three “themed music carnivals” will be held on the nights of December 23rd, 24th and 25th, and the New Year concert will be held on December 31st.
