World's Longest Bridge to Open in 2015

The construction of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge started on Dec. 15th and is due for completion in 2015. With an investment of 72.9 billion RMB, the series of bridges and tunnels will become the longest bridge in the world. The bridge is designed to withstand 8-magnitude earthquakes and wind force 16. Once the project is completed it will shorten the Hong Kong-Zhuhai trip from one hour by water and three hours by land to half an hour. Moreover, the Hong Kong to Macao trip will also be shortened from three hours by land and one hour by water to half an hour via the bridge.
