The “Time Travel, Silk Road” Music Concert that serves as a bridge of communication between two cultures (Han and Uyghur) will be held from September 8th to 9th in Urumqi, a famous city that was along the Silk Road trade route.

Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra is one of the organizers for the concert; director of the orchestra Yan Huichang has explained that the 2009 Silk Road concert was first held in Hong Kong and their aim at the time was to try and get Hong Kong residents to learn more about Chinese culture and the different ethnic groups that make up the vast country that is China. Yan said that the programs with Uyghur folk songs and music were very popular with the audience, so they decided to bring their show this time to Urumqi, as “another attempt at creating great symphony and harmony between two cultures”.

Programs during the concert will feature Uyghur folk songs and Chinese symphony that has developed from Chinese folk tunes and music.
