Urumqi Travel Tips

Urumqi Travel Tips

Urumqi is in its element during the months between May and October. The fruit for which the area is famous is ripe and sweet during this time and the flowers are fragrant.

The temperature fluctuates even in the warmest months, so smart travelers dress in layers and pack jackets. In winter (November to March), ski-jackets and thermals are the only way to survive.

The time difference between Urumqi and Beijing is two hours, but some clocks and timetables remain officially on Beijing time. Accordingly, locals often distinguish between ''Beijing time'' and ''Xinjiang time''. When making an appointment or a reservation, make sure you know which time you' re talking about!
