The US and China have agreed that longer-term visas will become available for business, tourism and education purposes – creating more opportunity in both nations and improving relations and exchanges between the world’s largest economies.
Obama announced the news at a speech to business executives in Beijing during the APEC summit, reinforcing the idea that the US welcomes the rise of a ‘prosperous, peaceful, and stable China’, The Guardian reports. In fact, Obama insisted “one country’s prosperity doesn’t have to come at the expensive of the other”.
The visas would be valid for up to a decade, and aims at improving business and job opportunities in both nations, setting an example for the rest of the world to have better business relations.
