US- Chinese Sequel to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Announced

A sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was announced at the Shanghai International Film festival yesterday. The movie will be a collaborative production between mainland Chinese and American film studios.

The movie will be titled ‘The Green Destiny’, the name of the famous sword in the movie, and will be shot in New Zealand and China. It’s tipped to be released in 2016- 16 years after the original production was released- and will be directed by Woo Ping-yuen, the martial arts coordinator for Crouching Tiger.

The sequel will see the return of Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, and she will be joined by Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse as her costar. There have been rumors about Zhang Ziyi reprising her role as Jen, although how they will explain her presence- given the fact that she jumped off a cliff in Crouching Tiger- is still a mystery.
