On Jan. 13, the Chongqing road monitoring system made its trial operation on Gaojiu Road, and will spread to the inner ring highway of Chongqing in 2009. It is reported that 33 cameras were set on the road which can monitor overhead viaducts, tunnels, and urban road facilities 24 hours a day. When road problems occur, workers can view the incident and calculate the damage area in the monitoring center.
