Tianjin Gets Ultra Strict on Pollution, Impose Extreme Restrictions

Tianjin Gets Ultra Strict on Pollution, Impose Extreme Restrictions
May 20, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Yesterday the Tianjin authorities announced a newly revised emergency plan to deal with Tianjin’s serious pollution problem.

The city will now be implementing a traffic restriction system, following other major cities such as Beijing and Guangzhou. On days when pollution reaches emergency levels, the Tianjin municipal government will put strict measures into place, stopping factory production, construction and only allowing cars to drive on alternating days.

The restrictions go even further, with kindergartens and schools set to close on highly smoggy days and a vague threat to ‘cancel all outdoor activities.’
