The ‘southern’ date of Yiwu is famous all over China. It is nutritious, particularly sweet, and was historically sent as a tribute to the Emperor in Beijing. They are available both traditionally and candied.

Brown sugar from Yiwu is some of the best in China, and is considered one of the three best products from the region.

Ham and pork from the Yiwu region is divided into a number of different categories. Smoked ham, Jiang ham, sugar ham, and braised ham are the most popular varieties. This ham is distinctive for its golden skin and smoky tasting meat. It is considered one of the best pork products in China.

This rice wine is brewed with winter water, and scented with a number of different ingredients. It is a rich, dark amber, and has won awards all over China. It is a sweet liquor, reminiscent of honey, and is always aged at least 3 years.

Local craftsmen in Yiwu are quite skilled in the weaving together of thin strips of bamboo to form figures and images. These items will dry out, and are relatively short-lived, but are quite cheap.

Wuyi and the surrounding region can produce an average of 7000 tons of organic tea every year. These teas are grown in the mountainous areas around Yiwu.

Carvers in Yiwu tend to produce woodcarvings in the old style, emulating past masters. A variety of classical figures and scenes are available, and many of the artists in the area are quite skilled.

The straw left over after wheat has been removed is collected by artists to weave and cut into different shapes and figures. This interesting craft is a true local specialty, and can appeal to all tastes.
