According to event organizers:

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to welcome Miguel Ceballos Baron, Head of the Trade & Investment Section of the EU Delegation to China, and Michael Jürgen Werner and Philip Monaghan from Norton Rose Group to discuss the trade policy of the new EU Commission.

The first half of the presentation will focus on the incoming Trade Commissioner’s (Karel De Gucht) priorities in the coming months and the likely implications of those priorities for China and other countries in the Asian region - especially as regards the export trade of these countries.

In the second half of the presentation, Mr Werner and Mr Monaghan will explore recent trends in the EU Commission’s anti-dumping and anti-subsidy practice concerning exports from China and Asia generally. In that context they will examine, from an exporter’s perspective, some of the key issues arising in a typical anti-dumping/anti-subsidy investigation (including looking at the various conditions which must be met before the EU can impose protective duties) with a view to identifying the defensive strategies likely to be favoured by exporters and their governments.
