On April 24th, Nanning residents of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have had a chance to taste different cuisines from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and other cities from Southeast Asia at Minsheng Square in the city. The 3rd Shuijie Food Festival had kicked off on that day (April 24th) and will be held for the next ten days. In recent years, because of its close vicinity to the neighboring Southeast Asian countries, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has been using food and cultural exchange as a means to facilitate better understanding and cooperation between China and its neighbor countries and regions. China and Association of Southeast Asian Countries have been using Nanning as a platform to bring more Southeast Asian food and culture to the local Chinese residents and so far they have proved very popular.
