The 30th Harbin Summer Music Festival (9th National Singing Competition) is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Harbin municipal government and will be held from August 6th to the 15th in Harbin. At the competition, 220 contestants that have showcased their singing talents (in opera singing and performing folk and pop songs) and have gotten past the preliminaries will be brought to the stage in Harbin for a final showdown. Performers and musicians from 20 different countries, including Austria, France, Russia, and India will also be bringing the very best of their repertoires to stage for the summer concert in Harbin this year.

It has been 5 decades since Harbin first held the Summer Music Festival and it has now become a major cultural project invested and organized by the government. The Harbin Summer Music Festival has also become better known worldwide as a music fiesta and has since become an integral part of life for Harbin residents every summer.

Just last month, Harbin was officially recognized as “City of Music” by the United Nations.
