On March 10th, two taxis with newly installed audio-visual monitoring systems were put into service in Hangzhou. The surveillance tapes can only be accessed when handling passenger complaints or when needed by the police to handle cases. 400 new taxis are expected to be equipped with the monitoring system before this June. The system will gradually be extended to a total of 9,000 taxis.
