On July 1, a high-speed railway line connecting Taiyuan South and Xi’an North officially opened. The new line, which is part of the Datong to Xi’an line, dramatically reduces travel time between the two cities from ten hours to just three.

The line originates in Datong, Shanxi Province, and passes through a total of 29 stations including Lintong, Datong, Taiyuan and Xi’an. The railway line spans 859 km and reaches speeds of up to 250 km/h. When the entire line is completed, journey time from Datong to Xi’an will be reduced from 16 hours to four.
