The car-rental companies in Taiyuan vary greatly in price, so visitors are advised to shop around. Most companies will also arrange chauffer-services on request, which may work out to be not only more convenient for drivers unfamiliar with China’s traffic laws, but possibly less expensive than reliance on taxis alone if many journeys are planned in a single day.
