Bell Tower Street 钟楼街
So named for the Buddhist bell tower that long ago stood nearby, this bustling commercial district is now home to Fenjiu Dasha, Dongfang Department Store and Jinge Cothing Store. Many smaller shops are tucked away among the Qing Dynasty-styled architecture, and an annual lantern festival held here turns the whole area into a flurry of streamers and bright colors. Bell Tower Street is known for its unique selection of operatic and drama costumes, masks and jewelry.
Liu Xiang 柳巷
One of the best shopping districts in Taiyuan is the Liu Xiang area, in which a goodly number of the city’s most popular department stores are gathered. Liu Xiang is also teeming with boutiques (haggling required) and eateries. Don’t miss the Guidu Department store or Wanjia Dasha for the some excellent bargains.
